Please join us in welcoming Brian Kosa, our new General Manager at Glenpointe Spa & Fitness. Brian recently retired in 2015 at the early age of 56 after being in the health club business for 27 years as a GM, operator, and owner. He genuinely missed the business, and found the opportunity at Glenpointe a perfect fit to bring him out of retirement.
Brian has led successful clubs in Illinois, Indiana and NJ. He calls NJ his home, with many of his extended family residing here. “I have always loved the club business as it is very dynamic, fun to work in, and I truly enjoy serving others personally and through my work,” Brian says. Brian espouses a strong customer service belief and has always surrounded himself with a great team of employees. “Glenpointe is very fortunate to have a very member-centric team of staff in place that I feel honored to provide leadership for,” he adds.
Brian values Glenpointe’s great history in the community and its contributions to the health and wellness of the local landscape, and finds it very attractive and an important feature with who he chooses to work. Brian comments, “The health club business has become very commoditized with gym franchises opening in cities and towns across the country. These franchises come and go, and when charging only $15/month, don’t invest in quality staff and labor. Quite the opposite at Glenpointe – the quality and professional integrity of the staff I have encountered is superior and I’m really excited to work with all of them.”
Brian never appreciated being dubbed a “jock” in high school and college but has come to appreciate the term as it long ago shaped his approach to being active and making exercise and wellness a daily part of his personal life. He works out 3 times a week at Glenpointe, and still played soccer and basketball up to about 9 months ago. And he’s proud that his family members subscribe to working out religiously too. Brian graduated from Slippery Rock University in PA., with a degree in Commercial Recreation, and is used to the jokes that people make about his alma mater’s name.
Brian is married to Karen, his wife of 29 years and has 3 children, Kyle, Simone and Mitchell and 6 dogs in the family. He is excited to be at Glenpointe Spa & Fitness and looks forward to meeting our valued members at Glenpointe.
